2 Adaptive Adventures for Visitors of All Abilities Available This Summer in the Smokies

The forces have joined to bring a wonderful new experience to the Smokies this year! Great Smoky Mountains National Park has partnered with Friends of the Smokies, Catalyst Sports, and Knox County in efforts to make public lands more accessible for visitors of all abilities. By doing so, they plan to implement this by offering three programs called “Adaptive Adventures” this summer. Park rangers will team up with volunteers to lead a biking and hiking experience. These experiences will consist of one biking program and two hiking programs while utilizing off-road wheelchairs and adaptive mountain bikes. These adventures will take place on three trails that have been thoroughly evaluated for adaptive equipment.

Adaptive Adventures Programs For Summer of 2023:

These Adaptive Adventures are specifically designed for Great Smoky Mountains National Park visitors of all abilities as well as their families. This is an interactive program where everyone can learn together about the cultural and natural history of our beloved backyard.

Saturday, September 9, 2023 (HIKE)—Little River Trail

To ensure that adequate volunteers and equipment are available for the programs, registration is required. You’re also welcome to bring your own adaptive equipment as well!
