3 Hiking Trails Perfect For Multi-Generational Families
1. Sugarlands Nature Trail
Sugarlands Nature Trail is the most accessible trail in the park. This trail has plenty of paved, level parking and is also paved itself, making it a great option for the whole family. Clocking in at 0.75 miles, the loop trail takes you through a stand of trees and past a brick chimney. You’ll even see black bear prints in the concrete! The trail is complete with benches, small side trails, and big trees, so there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
2. Quiet Walkways
Another great option for a leisurely stroll is one of the Quiet Walkways, of which there are 14 throughout the park. These trails are not designated and won’t be found on any map, but they’re easily accessible from parking areas. They’re typically between a quarter and three-quarters of a mile long and are perfect for a quick stretch of the legs while taking a scenic drive. You’ll likely have the trail all to yourself and they’re great for seniors and small children.
3. Cataract Falls
Cataract Falls is a well-graded trail that’s perfect for families and seniors. It’s located behind the Sugarlands Visitor Center, which has plenty of amenities such as bathrooms, drink machines, and a gift shop and museum. The trail takes you along a small stream and has informational signage in front of trees and plants to teach you about the nature around you. Be sure to take plenty of photos at the falls and stay on the trail for safety.
