1. Historic Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail
Historic Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail is a one-way, scenic loop around 6 miles long. The paved loop leads to several pull-off areas where you can hop out, walk a-quick-ways, and see preserved homesteads and waterfalls. The quick trip will provide plenty of views of mountains, streams, mills, and other national registered historic sites.
2. Mingus Mill
Mingus Mill is a large water-powered mill for grinding corn. It can be seen in operation still to this day. Here you can view the mill, the flume, view many surrounding cemeteries, and also hike the Mingus Creek Trail.
3. The Old Mill
This is the original Cracker Barrel, y’all. No lie. The Old Mill is an 1830 gristmill that anchors a prosperous complex with 2 country cooking eateries. The complex also offers a pottery studio, a General Store, and a creamery. The Old Mill was the original post office, town hall, and the leading electricity provider for the first settlers around Pigeon River.
4. Mountain Farm Museum
The Mountain Farm Museum is a collection of historic log farm buildings that were moved from their original placements to permanent display at the museum in the 1950s.
