Gatlinburg Trail

The Gatlinburg Trail is a delightful 1.9-mile path, offering a 3.8-mile roundtrip adventure. Along the way, you can stroll alongside the river, keep an eye out for wildlife, and discover remnants of an old homestead, including an ancient chimney. You’ll even come across a charming bridge over the West Prong of the Little Pigeon River, followed by a short uphill section. The remainder of the trail is level, surrounded by wooded landscapes. If you reach the visitor center and feel like exploring further, you can easily access the trailhead to Cataract Falls, adding just over a mile to your hike. This waterfall hike is gentle and suitable for children as well!

Porters Creek

If you’re looking to try out a trail with a little history, then you should check out the beginner-friendly Porters Creek trail. This trail has a cool Civil War vibe with old stone walls, original farmsteads, and gravel roads covered in lush moss. Plus, if you keep going, you can even spot the impressive 60-foot Fern Branch Falls. Located in Greenbrier, just a short drive from our Gatlinburg cabins, this trail is only 4 miles long. Don’t forget your camera!

Little Brier Gap

Little Brier Gap Trail is in the Metcalf Bottoms area, not far from our cabins in Wears Valley. You’ll love the chance to have a relaxing picnic before or after the short .7-mile hike to the Walker Sisters Place. The trail leading to the site is adorned with beautiful wildflowers in the spring and early summer. Once you approach the farmstead, you’ll spot an old schoolhouse- The farm itself includes the original cabin, spring house, and corn crib. The covered front porch is welcoming too, should a rain shower pop up unexpectedly.

Andrews Bald Trail

Andrews Bald is a simple trail that ends at a lush meadow with breezy grasses, beautiful flame azaleas and rhododendrons. The trail that leads to the bald is roughly 1.7 miles and reaches around 900 feet in elevation. It’s easy to moderate in skill level and is relatively close to our Gatlinburg cabins! You can access the trail from the Clingmans Dome parking area- While you’re there, may as well head over to the Clingmans Dome observatory! You will want to bring either a rain jacket or an umbrella to this area as the weather can be unpredictable here.
